Accessory designer La Vida Romana embodies the edgy gypsy; a first nation cross bohemian style that COT oh so loves. Bones and leather, and feathers that dangle and tiny skulls that jingle with bronze chain links and strong emerald or turquoise eye shadow.  This is the beautiful kind of stuff that makes the warm setting sun of mid summer so very enjoyable.

I really enjoy their presentation. They make a very strong image with their film, grainy images that encourage the viewer to think about the ’70s when we all had film cameras. Remember the excitement of developing that roll and viewing the images for the first time in those paper envelopes with the funny flaps?

Romy Heezen, the designer of these gems, travels the world getting inspired and collecting the materials needed for the pieces, offering a wide variety of jewelry and accessories: earings, dreamcatchers, bracelets, necklaces, feathers, extensions, belts, wallets, home decor, and a very interesting category labeled other must haves (think pants, keychains, rings, bootcuffs and random fur.

I think it is very safe to say that leather and fur is definitely cool to be wearing right now. I hope this is explored safely, because it could turn into something devastating to the animal kingdom like the fur rush of the 19th and early 20th centuries.. I believe it will be safely explored with re-used furs and non-cruel killings for I don’t think any large designer firm, who no doubt would get these materials at all costs, will attempt to explore this avenue, it being much to risky for a public image.
