On Wednesday, March 14th 2012 GLOBE 2012 Vancouver had an event hosted by Encana Natural Gas: a panel discussion on North America’s Energy Mix.
This event was very interesting in that it was primarily filled with students with hopes that questions would be raised, and ideas discussed with the impressive mix representing the panel.Hopefully somebody was taking notes.
As expected, Pecha Kucha Night Vancouver #20 was great. Vancouver’s edition of Pecha Kucha, which began in Japan by the people shown below. To clear up any confusion I will quote their “What is It” section of their page:

Pecha Kucha Night is Vancouver’s version of the world wide Pecha Kucha, now at 449 cities across the globe. It has a beautiful format: 20 pictures with 20 seconds for each picture. Obachan’s Garden is a story of Obachan, a Japanese immigrant from before WWII who lived in Steveston, now a district of Richmond, BC, Canada. It is a very touching and inspires me greatly as part of Canada’s history, and as a human surviving through hard times.
On September 28, 2011, Amon Tobin came to Vancouver where he played to a sold out Vogue Theater. This wasn’t your typical show. Amon Tobin isn’t your typical artist.
I knew Amon was a special artist right when I first heard his music back a few years, and it was re-enforced when when I watched his little video documentary he made for the making of Foley Room
Last night Bret Taylor opened his solo exhibit at The Tipper . It is a neat little spot on Kingsway and Victoria in East Vancouver for a show, where part of a restaurant in the front is booths, and the back opens up in a nice big room for a small band or an art show! Bret was lucky enough to have the lovely Tess McCann host his show for him, take the stress off his hands, and look lovely while doing it!
Bret’s work is pretty interesting, this series he has made really brilliant backgrounds that are topped with what looks like a half cm of clear coat which he then does his white on. It’s a pretty cool thing to look at. Continue Reading →
The first track I heard of Head of the Herd blew my socks off, and so did the next track, and so did the one after that. This same pattern continued until I had exhausted everything I could find to listen to by these two guys, Neu and Clay.

Yearly, Vancouver hosts what they call the Celebration of Lights, a festival of fireworks! This year, they had a few shows, but the one I was so lucky to catch was the Spain showing, on Wednesday August the 3rd, 2011. These are some of the sights I witnessed.
